Exploring the Community Structure of Plankton in the Maricultures Sites of Kodek Bay, Lombok Island

Mariculture is considered a future economic source for Indonesia. However, this practice may degrade the surrounding ecosystem by decreasing water quality, including plankton community. This study aimed to determine community structure of (phytoplankton and zooplankton) in mariculture sites. Study sites were selected based on activities Research Center Marine Terrestrial Bioindustry (PRBILD-BRIN) located Kodek Bay, Lombok Island. Samplings conducted February 2021, zooplankton samples collected horizontally towing 100 μm net using boat, whereas phytoplankton was 20 horizontally. The preserved with 4% formaldehyde, identified, counted Sedgwick Rafter cell counter an Olympus CX21 (10x). Results demonstrated that dominated genera from Subclass Copepoda (Temora sp., Microsetella Euterpina Oithona Acartia Onceae sp.) significantly more abundant at Sites 1 2 than those 3 4. diversity levels moderate all sites, except site 1, which Temora dominated. Phytoplankton mainly composed Bacillariophyceae, followed Dinophyceae, Chlorophyceae, Conjugatophyceae, no significant difference abundance low taxa 2, where Bacillariophyceae Dinophyceae equally It suggested organisms shape these structures recycling particular nutrients.
